I just think about how OUaT is trying to keep Rumbelle together before Rumple is emotionally ready for a healthy relationship and while Belle realizes that he isn’t a good partner.
Why do you hate my babies so much, OUaT?
Rumple needs development, and Belle needs to know that Rumple loves her but doesn’t need her right now.
Their reunion should have resulted in them confessing everything they’ve felt about each other and realizing they can’t be together at the moment, but still promise that they will see one another every once in awhile.
They could have met up every once and awhile and had it be special, where Rumple has a renewed passion to better himself, and Belle can draw some comfort that he’s on the right path, trying to rid his heart of the poison that fills it.
Of course this should all be happening in the Enchanted Forest because keeping Storybrooke around is just making everything drag, and everyone crammed into that tiny town is inconvenient to the number of characters there now that the curse is lifted.
