Amy Fox has been working for a few years now to create a sitcom with a mostly transgender cast with all trans characters played by trans actors, including a trans woman playing the main character. I have been following the development of this show, The Switch, for a long time and I am really exited about it. There is a Kickstarter going on right now to pay for the last $50,000 in funding the show needs to be produced.
Guys just putting this out there in light of recent events
If you want to donate money for disaster relief in the Philippines please don’t donate to Red Cross or any big US organization
Donate to NAFCON because they work directly with people from the Philippines and grassroots organizations there
Donating there ensures that your money or whatever actually gets to the people who need it
And DEFINITELY do not give your money to the Salvation Army. They’re listed on that big post going around (you know the one) and just. No. It’s a long post, so maybe people didn’t notice it among all the other links, but…
The Philippine Red Cross (which is not the same organization as the American Red Cross, they are both under the international Red Cross umbrella) is not a “US organization” and is well established and works directly with people from the Philippines every single day. On the Philippine Red Cross website, you can specifically choose to donate to the “Supertyphoon Yolanda (Haiyan)” relief fund and that money will go to the largest and most widespread humanitarian organization in the Philippines, who are currently providing essential rescue and relief efforts.
Now, on the American Red Cross website, you can also choose to donate directly to the Philippine typhoon relief fund, however, it’s slightly opaque as to how that money is being utilized and how it’s getting to the people that need it. When a natural disaster occurs, Red Cross organizations from countries around the globe contribute aid to the affected country’s Red Cross based on their requested needs. This includes monetary aid as well as manpower and volunteers with specialized skills. As such, the American Red Cross will only contribute what is requested of them.
The American Red Cross has stated, in regard to their humanitarian response, that it has activated its “family tracking services” which will help separated and displaced Filipino family members who register into the database to find each other. They’ve also sent four (4) specialized professionals to the Philippines to provide telecommunication and disaster assessment support to the Philippine Red Cross. They’ve said nothing about their fund going toward food, water, shelter, etc. and so I have zero clue if your money would contribute to that, which is why the Philippine Red Cross is more direct as they are the central RC organization conducting the relief and rescue efforts (which includes food, water, shelter, etc.).
The Red Cross is a legitimate choice, as are UNICEF, ShelterBox, Oxfam, Doctors Without Borders, World Food Programme, World Vision, and on and on and on. Do your research. Find out which charities you like, find out if you agree with their mission statements, find out if you think their financial and ethical records are responsible, transparent, and trustworthy.
NOTE: I have tried to research NAFCON. Please be aware, NAFCON is not a charity. When you donate to NAFCON, they have stated that they will then send that donation to an organization/fund called Bayanihan Alay sa Sambayanan run by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan). I cannot find financial information on this organization and that sets off my first red flag when I’m looking to donate to a transparent and trustworthy organization. From what I can see on their website, Bayan are a highly political special interest group, a second, very big, red flag. I also cannot see where this money is going as their appeal for donations and mobilization says nothing about what they’ll be doing to provide relief. It only talks about mobilizing it’s member organizations, which will be the ones providing the relief efforts. Do those organizations have trustworthy backgrounds and the expertise to be organizing and providing disaster relief? Does the donation money get channeled down into the member organizations? Not a clue. Nope, not putting my money there.
Just, do your research. Please.

My headcanons for Cecil and
beautiful, perfectCarlos! If you didn’t expect me to interpret all the “perfect hair” comments to also refer to perfect facial hair, then I’m disappointed in you. Obligatory re-reading of my autobiography, "Beards and Me". I personally quite enjoy the idea that Cecil looks like a totally ordinary guy (except for his ghastly fashion sense) in the midst of all the weirdness.
Click the pictures to full view by the way, they look better that way!
ZK Kid Archive | Because it isn’t canon so I just made my own.
I better finish my homework before the ep starts.
Have you googled parts of the names to find out their meaning/origin? If you know the race of your characters, it also might help to google the common language(s) of those races to make sure the names match up??
That’s kind of what I’ve been doing, and a lot of the names do sound similar to /real/ names, but I’m still not sure if they’re okay, you know?
